Summer Research Grants through GUROP

Summer Research Fellowship
A student who has completed at least one term as a GUROP assistant in any of the prior 3 terms is eligible to apply for a Summer Research Fellowship. The Fellowship provides a research award and is split between the first half of the summer and the second half is awarded based on successful completion of the project as verified by the faculty mentor. This support is to enable the student to work full-time during the summer on a faculty mentor's research project, and to enhance the student's research knowledge and skills. In addition, students chosen for this award (who complete the summer's work) receive the designation "Georgetown Summer Research Fellow" on the transcript.

Applications should be submitted to Sonia Jacobson, GUROP Advisory Committee in early March each year. They will be reviewed by a faculty committee, with awardees notified by the first week in April. The application can be found at the link below and must completed in hard copy.  Students should fill out a hard copy coversheet & application check list and submit the electronic student data form found here: Summer Research Grant materials.

Please note that our funding resources are highly constrained, and students who have alternative sources of support--faculty grants, part-time jobs, etc.--are strongly encouraged to use those so that those most needy can have access.

At the end of the summer, the fellow and the faculty mentor must submit brief one-page reports describing the results of their
