You should begin preparing for fellowships by:

  • Creating a list of your short term and long term goals
  • Reading a daily newspaper, news magazine (like Atlantic, Harpers, The New Yorker or the Economist) and a journal in your field
  • Engaging in transformative leadership which results in a measurable outcome
  • Immersing yourself in inquiry-based research
  • Submitting work to academic journals like Mentis Vita
  • Attending and presenting at conferences in your field
  • Identifying men and women (academic and non-academic) who can write letters of recommendation for you.  The Rhodes requires 8 letters, the Fulbright three, and most require something in between.
  • Updating your resume and CV
  • Reading past winners profiles to understand what each of the fellowship is looking for in students
