Michael Damiano
Michael Damiano is a History major in the College. During a gap year after high school in Spain he developed an interest in Spanish culture and art. In the spring of 2008 he won a Lisa J. Raines Summer Research Fellowhsip to spend the summer in Spain researching Mallorcan painter, Miquel Barceló. This research continued until the summer of 2009. He is currently writing a full-length manuscript based on his research on and personal relationship with Barceló.
In the fall of 2008, Michael studied abroad in Valparaíso, Chile. In the fall of 2009 he submitted an application for a Fulbright Fellowship to return to Chile. If he is fortunate enough to win the grant he will spend most of 2011 in Santiago and Easter Island doing research to write a book about the island’s dark contemporary history.
Michael’s articles about contemporary art can be found on his website www.michaeldamiano.com.
