Daniel Nowicki

NowickiDaniel Nowicki is a five-year BSFS/MA candidate studying international security, terrorism, and substate violence. Daniel received a Raines Fellowship in 2009 and spent that summer in Niger's Zinder region researching Farmer-Managed Natural Regeneration. His conclusions will be published in Mentis Vita 2010.

He took a leave of absence in his junior spring to work as an intern at the US State Department's consulate in Lyon, France. During the first six months of his junior year, he studied and traveled in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He conducted GUROP research on the use of the term "enemy combatant" during the Bush administration with Professor Marilyn McMorrow. He is fluent in Spanish and French, and is trying his hand at Arabic.

When Daniel has time he loves to break a sweat at the gym, explore DC, and read for pleasure. He and Emily Solis-Cohen, another Carroll Fellow, are planning to run a marathon in May.
