Andrew Molchan
Andrew Molchan is a Physics major and Classical Studies minor. Although he has always enjoyed studying math and science, he has a passion for the Classics as well, especially Latin.
During the Spring 2009 Semester he studied abroad at the Villa Le Balze in Florence, Italy. Last summer, Andrew worked at The PFM Group, a public financial management firm in Philadelphia. On campus, Andrew is involved in the Georgetown Entrepreneurial Organization, the Society of Physics Students and is a Teaching Assistant in the Physics Department. He is also actively involved in research as a result of his experiences as a Carroll Fellow.
During his junior year, he worked on a project to use nanoparticles to increase the resolution of MRI scans so that they can better detect cancer cells. His current research project for his senior thesis focuses on developing a new type of cancer therapy that selectively heats cells to kill tumors.
After graduation, he hopes to apply his technical background outside of the sciences, working as an actuary or in finance before going back to school to obtain a graduate degree in applied math or study intellectual property law.
