Thomas Hsu-Yao, GUROP Research Assistant

T. Hsu-YaoThomas Hsu-Yao, born and raised in Greenwich, Connecticut, is a Chemistry Major and a Mathematics Minor in Georgetown College, Class of 2010. Thomas is a Carroll Fellow, a GUROP Undergraduate Research Assistant at Dr. Tong’s Laboratory, and a Resident Assistant at Reynolds Hall. All three of these roles provide Thomas with the foundation to advance his leadership, research, and analytical skills. Thomas has researched and studied chemistry for the past four years and his passion has only grown deeper in that time. His current research interests lie in the chemical structure and synthesis of organic chemicals.

As a Resident Assistant, Thomas develops leadership skills that coincide with the skills he is refining in the Carroll Forum. Thomas continues his development here at Georgetown by living fully the Carroll motto: Mentis Vita Pro Vita Mundi – the life of the mind for the life of the world. He is committed to his full development, not only to his passion in chemistry.

In the future, Thomas wishes to use all of his skills by bringing an analytical and scientific perspective to the field of law. Due to the fact that his ambitions may change, he has resolved to focus primarily on his current studies. Thomas is still asking questions, but he is now seeking out the answers himself.
